Windows Vista connection problem!
This happened about a few months ago, and I had no intention of making a big deal out of it thinking that maybe it'll resolve on it's own, but it didn't. So, I really really need help right now.

My problem is, whenever I'm connected to broadband, my computer says different! The globe which is supposed to appear in the system tray, did not. Instead, when I mouse over it, it says I'm only connected to Local Only. When in reality, I can surf the web just fine (although it's been slow lately. that's what got me concerned).

And when I opened Network And Sharing Center, it shows that I'm not connected to the Internet as well. When I opened Connect to a Network, it says that I'm connected to Broadband. :\ I'm really confused as I don't really know much about how to configure the Internet system.

Please help me. I'm willing to give any information you need regarding this. I just need to get this fixed and over with.

Here are some visuals to help understand more of my problem.

Connected to broadband, but globe won't appear.

Although connected to the Internet.

It says I'm not connected to the Internet.

If you PC is slowing down it may be virus or spyware, check that first.
I had the connection problem also I have cable BB, I had to renew by router and I had all the prob's you have so I turned the power off to the router and re-booted it, that done the trick, worth a try anyhow.

good luck

What is this Globe that you are suppose to see?
What ISP are you using to access the internet?
DSL or Cable?
Are you wireless or wired to the router?

The globe indicates that I'm connected to broadband.
It is supposed to appear, but it did not.

DSL.
Wired to the router.

I tried unplugging everything, and plugging it in back. (from modem and router).
And for a SPLIT second, the globe appeared after I connected to broadband.
Then it kinda dissapeared after I tried connecting it another time. :/

Sigh. Sometimes, I just feel like giving up on Vista, ngl.

Who is you Internet Service Provider?
The software from them is what may be providing the Globe and is not connecting correctly. Check with them.
