Sleep
Hi,
I have a problem with Vista!!!
Since a recent re build I have been unable to use the sleep function because it is just not there!!!
Power options do not list it and the shut down menu does not offer it in fact, no icons can be found.
Please can anyone come up with a solution?
Regards
Faulty

In Control Panel - Power Options - choose -Change Plan Settings- and look for the sleep and or hybrid sleep modes.

Tried that but neither 'sleep' or 'hibernate' are there, its as if they have been erased?

Why did you need to rebuild and how was it done?

I had a serious problem witha virus or worse, which was eating my files.
It really was a complete reinstal rather than re fomatted but all seemed ok except there were no sound drivers, so these were downloaded and installed and sound was ok.
I ussually set my power options to 'sleep' after 20 mins but when I tried to set this up I could not find any options to sleep. When I go to start and shut down, once again there is no option to sleep or hibernate (and there used to be!!

You may not have a complete install, are there any other issues?

Sounds Like a Repair
Windows Vista has an option that "repairs" system files without harming documents and settings but does reset drivers. This sounds like it has already been done to your computer, but I would try it first just in case. Some disks that came with vista do not have this option, like if they are an upgrade or a 3rd party recovery disk. in that case you might have to buy a new disk to get a full reinstall.

how to "repair" on vista:

Thanks Swizzler, The disk which came with my pc is an OEM version and though I looked after receiving your thread, it does not seem to have a repair option so will have to call in the local friendlycomputerman and pay up!!
