LinkScanner is still running....these two lines show it:

O2 - BHO: WormRadar.com IESiteBlocker.NavFilter - {3CA2F312-6F6E-4B53-A66E-4E65E497C8C0} - C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgssie.dll

O18 - Protocol: linkscanner - {F274614C-63F8-47D5-A4D1-FBDDE494F8D1} - C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgpp.dll

If flushing the DNS doesn't work, replace the Hosts file with the original:
download HostsXpert from the link below.

http://www.funkytoad.com/content/view/13/31/
Open the file then click on "Restore Original Hosts"

Close program when complete.

You can also try resetting the Winsock:
Click on Start button.
Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.
Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run Command Prompt as Administrator. Allow elevation request.
Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
Restart the computer.
What netsh winsock reset command does are it resets Winsock Catalog to a clean state or default configuration. It removes all Winsock LSP (Layered Service Providers) previously installed, including the potential malfunctioned LSP that causes loss of network packets transmission failure. So all previously-installed LSPs must be reinstalled. This command does not affect Winsock Name Space Provider entries.

Note: To check which LSPs installed on your Vista system, use netsh winsock show catalog command.

It’s also possible to reset TCP/IP Internet Protocol stack.

Seems no one will look at my log to check out the ieexplore.EXE so I no if it is a problem or not. It has been on the other thread for days and can't seem to get an answer. I have now taken the computer back to them and hooked it up through a router so it is working fine but I would really like to find out what the problem is in it running through just the modem (dsl) like it should and always has been before.I am wondering if this is something tech guys really cannot solve but then you would think they would say something, like "we haven't a clue" or something, What I can gather from all the reading and research I have done on this matter is it is a DNS problem that the computer and the server cannot link up for some reason and microsoft knows it is a problem and tried to make a hotfix for it and failed and is still trying. I cannot find the hotfix anywhere so I assume it isn't out yet. Anyway, I wonder if everyone is really stumped on this one?

don't know if this problem ever got resolved, but i thought i'd revive this thread and let you know that there are known issues with certain westell modems and a vista connection via wireless (wasn't that what started this?)

verizon has firmware upgrades for the effected modems...you all sound more savvy than me about stuff like this...i had to get verizon tech support to walk me through the procedure....but the verizon site has the firmware downloads available.
