Cannot get Vista and XP to network
I cannot get Vista and XP to network. I installed the LLTD, but nothing. Have Vista Laptop connected by wireless and a Desktop XP connected by wireless. Turned off all firewalls, turned on file sharing. Have same Workgroup name. Nothing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are both your machines on the same WORKGROUP?

Are you sure that you are connecting to your Router?
What routers do you see when you have the "Connect to a Network" pane open?
(Right click the wireless icon and select "Connect to a Network")

If you are not connecting to your router, you would also not be getting to the Internet. Is that even happening?

Regarding not being able to network the two computers:

1. What error message do you see
2. Can you see the other computer when you browse the network (LLTD is not necessary for that)
3. Do you have the same user names and password on both computers

I can connect to router and internet and my Vista Laptop can connect to my Vista Desktop, but non my my XP Desktops. My XP cannot see my Laptop, but can see my Vista Desktop (??). This is really confusing me. And I don't use passwords as I am on a private network with a password protected Router.

It appears to me that the firewall on the one is blocking the others from seeing it.

What firewall is on each machine?

You did NOT setup ZoneAlarm to allow the other machines to have access. ZA is NOT stupid, it was doing as it is designed to do.

What you need to do is select "Firewall" on the right side of the ZA control Center, and then the Zones tab. There you must enter the IP addresses of the other machines or a range that will include the other machines. This will allow the other machines to SEE and access this machine.

If any of the other machines are running a firewall they to, need to be setup the same way.
