Acessing Vista and Xp
Ok, there is a similar thread on this forum. I read through it and since I had Zonealarm as well, allowed both computers to see each other (with Ip range.)
On Network I can now see the computer, but when I try to access the computer it comes up with "Windows cannot access //DAVID" Why can't I get to it?
However, there is one more computer on the network, which is hardwired to the router and gives us the wireless network.** I CAN connect fine to that computer.
In summary,
*I have windows vista and can connect to YOUR-SZ6X6SEF but not DAVID (I have zonealarm)
*David has Xp and I cannot access it (also has zonealarm)
*YOUR-SZ6X... has xp and i can access it (doesn't have zonealarm and is connected directly to the internet.
We have the same workgroup name, we can all access the internet.

If i wrote that confusing, I'm sorry :\ If you have any questions, just ask

**Before anyone asks, it is almost impossible to connect them with Ethernet, we have too many walls in the way, sorry

Can you ping the problem PC(s) by IP address? By Computer Name?

Have you defined a share on the David machine?

Almost always a firewall (security suite). Enabling file and printer sharing will configure the Windows XP SP2/SP3 firewall to allow pings. 3rd party firewalls often have to be completely and cleanly uninstalled or properly configured for the desired access. Sometimes 'turn off' or 'disable' will suffice.
