Ged files in Windows Vista
I have downloaded a Ged file of my Family history data base from Genes Reunited. It is attached to an e-mail from them. Icannot open it. When I try to create an association in the 'set associations' control panel I find that in the enormously long list of file extensions the extension '.ged' does not appear. I have PAF 5 installed and I would like to save this Ged file as a paf file if thats possible
Help please

Download the file onto you hard drive where you can find it. Then open up your genealogy program and import the file. I would scan it first for virus.

Ged files
Thank you Duane for your comment.
I knew this already but you gave me confidence to keep trying.
The problem was that I am so unfamiliar with the mouse I didn't realise that I had to right click on the mouse to do anything with the file. I found this out eventually by trial and error.
There must be millions of people like me who find things difficult because they dont know basics !!!
