Scanner Problem
I have and E-Machine running Vista Home Premium with 1GB Ram

Under Control Panel, Under Device Manager, Under Imaging Devices, find two entries, both are Zerox scanners: but there are no such scanners attached to the computer.

How do I get rid of these?

Thanks that works but when I click on Camera and Scanners under control panel, and click on Add Devices, the only selection is the two Zerxo scanners again

Do you have the CD that came with it? Most scanners want the software installed first.

Are you using Windows Vista drivers? The CD may or may not have what Vista needs.

I have unplugged scanner from USB jack. Unistalled all epson software.

restarted computer, went to the epson web page and dowloaded Twain 5 v5.71 driver
that's supposed be for Vista.

Then plugged the scanner.

Vista intalls driver and says scanner is ready.

Open up Windows photo gallery and click on Import and screen opens with nothing listed.

Open Control lPanel and Device Manager and see Epson with yellow x under Other Devices

Double click on Epson and Screens says no Driver

What's going on?

Click on the device with yellow X and choose update drivers, then point the search to your download.

When I do that, Windows searches on the internet and finds driver but has errors trying to install, I guess that windows did not find the vista driver. So I retried and tried search for driver on my computer. Could not find file.

I didn't download the driver, but, if it has to be expanded (meaning that it has more than one file) you need to do that and make a folder for it on your desktop so you can find it and point the driver search to it.

Looks like you have to double click on the file and install it.

in the new harware dialog box I pointed to c:\Epson\epson12242_twain5_driver_571a
and windows says file does not contain driver for your device. Select another file and try again

Is this the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Vista? The drivers are only compatible with 32-bit.
