Unhappy Cant download from Internet
Hi All

Got a strange problem with Windows Vista thats just happend, I do suspect it may have happend after an automatic update. I just cant download anything via Internet Explorer, it allows me to pick a download destination, its shows it downloading, it gets to 100% and finishes downloading but when I try to find the file it is not there. My first thoughts were a virus, so I downloaded AVG 8 via another computer and installed it and scanned the system, no viruses found. Uninstalled AVG and done a housecall scan via the web, still nothing found, then installed Trend Micro (I know its the same engine as housecall) again nothing found, run several Spyware and Malware but apart fromt he usual nothing found there either. Next thought was security settings in Internet Explorer, but again nothing that would stop the downloads, so thought it could be a corrupt IE, installed Firefox, same thing once download finishes file cannot be found. Really pulling my hair out by this time, installed limewire and done test downloads via that, everything OK, same with ftp sites, not a problem, same with newsgroups not a problem. Microsoft updates are fine aswell. Online Games are ok, my router and modem connection is fine as I can download via other computers on the network. No firewall is enabled or installed. So i have tried everything I can think of to diagnose and fix the problem, apart from doing a format. Anybody here got any ideas??

Cheers

Dougie

I'm having the same problem, I was told that it could be that the Vista Registry has gone corrupt, and that I would have to reformat, which I don't want to do. I'm also looking for a solution to this problem. This started this past weekend, could it be from a windows update?

I'm running Internet Explorer 7. I just installed FireFox and I'm having the same problem. I configured the downloads section to download on my desktop and that didn't help I changed it to download in the download folder and still nothing Totally confused and fustrated.
