Help Downloading iTunes
Hey,
Hopefully I'm in the right section. I'm trying to download the newest version of iTunes onto my computer, but I keep getting an error that says...

Service 'Bonjour Service' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

I have a laptop with Windows Vista on it and I'm the sole user; I don't have a guest account and am listed as the administrator on the computer. I'm unsure what this message means as I can only assume that I do, in fact, have the privileges to start system services. If anyone could help me I would be extremely grateful.

Also, please be gentle; I have a passable knowledge of computers but nothing monumental.

Thanks!
Virginia

Did you have iTunes already installed when you installed the latest version?

Peace...

Ok, have you tried uninstalling the version of iTunes you've got installed currently, rebooting, and then installing the new version you downloaded?

Peace...

No, but won't I have to add everything to my library again if I do go that route? It took me forever to get everything on there.
Is there another way or is that the only one?

Hmmm, I don't use iTunes enough to know what will happen if you uninstall it completely. I believe the music won't be deleted and I would imagine iTunes would scan the hard drive and simply re-add the music it finds to your library.

Hopefully someone with more iTunes experience will post some useful info.

Peace...

Alright, thank you for trying though. I'll try that and let you know what happens.

You may need to run the setup in Administrator Mode (right click on file, select Run As Administrator.

I don't think iTunes is the problem, but something with your permissions. I would suggest getting this thread moved to the Vista forums for better assistance.

I will request the move

Moved to the Vista forum.

You might review the info here (namely anti virus programs and starting the service)
