help, computer just started running slow
before i start i am using windows vista basic ona dell insiron 6400 laptop

ok, i have had my computer for about 1year now and in the last month it has been running really slow (it was fine before then).
it is slow to start up and when im on there it is fine but as soon as i go on the internet for about 10 mins or start a video up on youtube it starts going slow and internet explorer stops responding. also after i go on the internet for 10 mins i cant look on my computer or look at pics on my computer because they dont load.
i first though it could be that i have low memory on the hard drive which i did, i only had 2 gig out of 62 gig. so i start deleting things and get it upto 35 gig and it is still as slow.

i look in the task manager and the preformance is:

cpu usage: 85-100%

physical memory: 620mb
it then says under this
total 1013
cached 582
free 0

and at the bottom it says
processes 51
cpu usage 90%
physical memory 60%

under the processes tab i have about 15 things there all under 1000k eccept for IE which is 89,000k something called csrss.exe which is 5000k

as you can see i dont really have a clue about things like this, if you need anymore info please tell me what you need.
and like i said before it was running fine up untill one month ago
thanks for the help

It sound like to me you got some spyware, adware and malware on your system.First things first, run all your malware and spyware software. Then run antvirus software. Then defrag your system, I prefer Auslogics Disk defrager - Free. This is to make sure you don't have any bugs hiding out some where. Then when that is all done go through and unistall any old programs you have that you don't need or use any more. Also a good utilities program would be nice to help clean out computer and registry errors.

Yep do what bassfisher said but I would also recommend SpyBot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/

It might also be wise to shutdown some unnecessary process' with your task manager. You stated that it gets slow after 10mins, so under task manager/ services look for programs with a delayed start.

Some of the process' will not pop on startup. Observe what you have running on startup and when the slowness kicks in see what is running. But more than likely it is spyware. It can really affect the performance of your computer.
