Exclamation printer won't print unless I shut down
Argh! This problem has been plaguing me sice I got my computer a year ago. Almost every time I try to print a document it gets stuck in the print cue and nothing happens. I have to shut down my computer and restart it and then the document prints. If I try to print another document right away it works okay, but if I wait any length of time and then try to print another document it freezes up again and I have to shut down/ restart again. I had to do this four times today! I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with Vista. Thank you for your help.

I have the same problem, but I deal with it by turning the printer
off then back on.
Not much help I know, but easier than rebooting the computer.
Haven't figured out why vista shuts down communication to
the printer yet.

Is this printer shared or a network printer?

No, it is just my personal printer in use with one computer.

Thanks.

If a USB connection is being used and "Sleep" or "Hibernation" is being used, the these can make the printer lose it connection and must be reconnected.
