Unhappy random crashes
my pc has started crashing all the time in the last few weeks.
im using an Icon 225 internet dongle , but i had been using sony ericcson pc suite with my sony erriccson w980 mobile phone as a modem.

the sony erriccson pc suite keeps crashing and for some reason disconnects the internet. Sometimes it'll go to a blue screen where it mentions system memory dump , and it actually did this while i was trying to watch a dvd on windows media player earlier.

I think theres also something up with the order of the hard drives at bootup but im not sure what order they're meant to be in.

Can someone help me please ?

Thanks in advance.

What is the bugcheck from the BSOD(s)? Any driver named?

e.g., -

0x00000000, (0x0000000, 0x0, 0x0)
Probably caused by : abc123.sys

You will find this info about 1/2 way down the BSOD, left side.

If the BSOD simply flashes then re-starts, adjust your system crash settings -
START | type sysdm.cpl - hit enter | Advanced tab | Start-up & recovery - change to at least 30 seconds

I can tell you the bugchecks & possible causes - get the mini kernel dump files, please. Go to c:\windows\minidump and copy them out to your documents folder. You probably won't be able to zip them while they are in the \windows\minidump folder b/c of file permission settings.

Then run msinfo32 & save as an NFO file - '
START | type msinfo32 - hit enter. Save it w/ default file extention NFO you'll see it when you go to save it.

Zip up all of the dumps & the msinfo32 file & attach to your next post.

also , after this post , it crashed randomly again.
when it did the dump and started again , a box appeared that said " windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown ".
when i opened the " more info " , it says this

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.2
Locale ID: 2057

Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: d1
BCP1: 00000001
BCP2: 00000002
BCP3: 00000000
BCP4: 88B280DC
OS Version: 6_0_6000
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 768_1

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini111208-02.dmp
C:\Users\chris\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-81416-0.sysdata.xml
C:\Users\chris\AppData\Local\Temp\WERCB3A.tmp.version.txt

makes zero sense to me =)

also , ive noticed on the BSOD that it said " DRIVER IRQ NOT LESS OR EQUAL " or somthing.......

some kinda conflict i'd guess ( it was whingeing about the boot devices having changed for about a week and i had to press F1 cos i didnt know what order they should be in by default )

I f**king hate computers !

I'm starting to panic now.

Please help !!

The crashes are getting more and more frequent , almost like contractions in a womans childbirth.
I dont want my computer giving birth to an 8lb 10oz corrupt hard drive.

Please help --- i ended up with a corrupt hard drive 3 years ago because of windows and its indecipherable verbal diarrhea.

please !!!!!

Do you have a 3G USB Modem? Limited information tells me that's what the following driver belongs to. You need to see if there's updated drivers.

BugCheck D1, {0, 2, 0, 892790dc}
Probably caused by : gt72ubus.sys ( gt72ubus+90dc )
Image name: gt72ubus.sys Timestamp: Tue Oct 09 20:53:15 2007 (470B6BAB)

the situation is this

i surfed for over a year with a sony erriccson w880i as my usb modem. i installed the drivers that came on the included disc

about 3 weeks agao , i upgraded to a sonr erriccson w980 and installed the drivers on that disc

2 weeks ago , i got an orange internet usb dongle ( broadband ) , and the drivers automatically set up when i used it the first time.

im no longer using the mobile phones as a modem , JUST the dongle

what do i delete , or update ?

( its crashing almost every half hour now. this is the second time i typed this , cos it crashed in the middle of it a few minutes ago.........so i need to get this resolved before my system croaks on me. I cant even do a backup while its like this. )

I tried to update the driver through device manager. I'm using the Globetrotter HSxPA driver , and according to device manager , thats the most up-to-date driver there is for the dongle.

HALP !!

The only external addons i use are

orange ICON 225 internet dongle

7 port usb hub

m-audio fasttrack pro audio interface

( keyboard and mouse )

usb webcam

usb 500GB western digital external drive

M-audio monitors

thats it.

its definitely related to this mysterious gt72ubus.sys cos its on the BSOD every time while its doin a memory dump
