Solved: Another DVD read problem but a little different
I apologoze if there is a fix somewhere in the vast posts similar to this.
I am a photographer and store many files on cd and dvd used to drag and drop files onto dvd drive in my XP MCE sony vaio. My pioneer DVR-A08 will make noise when I put a dvd in it that I used to be able to read in the same computer when I was running XP MCE , and the drive icon will change to DVD+R but when I click on open OR explor it says to enter a disc. At that point the drive goes dead and I can't even eject it. I have to restart my computer. The drive will tell me how much storage is left on the DVD but it will not recognize any infor on it. I loaded the ULEAD software that came with the DVD to no avail. The DVD can be read on another computer. I can read some cd's but no DVD's as of yet. I will try more soon.
Now I am stuck with DVD's that I can't get onto vista easily.
Any ideas?
Thank you
Running Vista home premium.
UPDATE also, when I put a new dvd+r in the drive I can format it but when I try to open the dvd drive it tells me in insert a disc !!!!
Is there a different DVD burning program I should try or do I need to purchase a Vista compatable DVD burner?

OK well I solved it removing the lower filter remdied my woes. I had updated firmware to no avail, now I can burn dvd's albeit a little slower than before for some reason.
