Constant Crashing/Freezing
I have a Toshiba Laptop with Vista Home Premium A200-AH9.

Vista keeps randomly Freezing/Crashing. I get igfx driver stopped working and then it resumes and starts working again, other times i get Toshiba Flash Cards constantly not responding. When my Igfx driver fails sometimes my usb devices will only charge via computer but will not interact with it such as the usb mouse or my mp3.

This problem started occuring out of no where really, as everything was working fine and then just this week this stuff started to happen. I've been getting Bsod at times but sometimes the writing is just too small to make out. I have no idea where to look under event viewer to see what the error actually is.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

CC

IGFX is the intel graphics driver. I would suggest installing the latest version to see if it helps.

Hi there, I am new to this so please accept my apologies if I have replied to this thread instead of doing something else!! I keep getting a very similar problem. My internet explorer and msn keep crashing, it constantly says they are not responding. It started about a month or so ago on msn but during the last week it has been happening on the internet explorer. I am OK if I am on them for a very short time, about 30minutes but after that they do not responde. Can anyone help me at all? I downloaded the service pack yesterday thinking that might help but it has not solved the problem at all.

My laptop is E-SYSTEM EL3103 with Vista Home Basic. Computer is approx 12 months old and hasnt had any problems until recently.

I keep getting error messages, I've copied them in below:

It is extremely difficult to troubleshoot 2 different problems in a single thread. Please create your own thread or. if the problem is similar, simply follow the suggestions listed for this one.

Thing is I have the latest driver installed, and i've tried reinstalling but it just keeps installing with nothing actually happening. I'll try again and get back to you.

try going to the control panel, deleting the graphics adapter and then rebooting/letting windows reinstall.

sorry for getting back so late.

I tried reinstalling the driver manually and having windows update download it. Im no longer getting the Vista IGFX error but im still getting random freezes where my mouse won't move i cannot ctrl+alt+del and basically I need to hold the power button to shut it down.

This tends to happen frequently. Other times I'd be watching a video on my computer and my computer would freeze and the audio would jam at a pitch and again i'd be forced to manually shut it down.

Any ideas? Or is it time for warranty?

:edit: if i could avoid warranty that'd be great because xmas break is soon and i don't want to wait too long for my laptop to get fixed

Hi. . .

The 1st IE7 (iexplorer) crash shows the faulting module as agcutils.dll - with a 0xc0000005 exception code = memory access violation. Timestamp 490b7090 = Fri Oct 31 16:54:40 2008. I believe this driver belongs to Webshots Desktop and Toolbar and has had reported problems.

http://blog.webshots.com/?p=1017

The 2nd - an apphang involving msnmsgr.exe v8.5.1302.1018, timestamp = 4717a53b = Thu Oct 18 14:26:03 2007 and is most recent production version (beta version now out).

0xc0000005 exception always has me looking at anti-virus/ 3rd party firewall as primary suspects. What a/v & firewall are you running?

Regards. . .

I'm checking my event log and i keep getting this

Code:
: The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period.
This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC
incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this
error may cause the computer to function incorrectly.

Hi. . .

Here are 2 Intel links for EC -
http://download.intel.com/design/chi...brf/319545.pdf

http://download.intel.com/design/chi...pdt/319538.pdf

What is BIOS date?

Easy to find out -
START | type cmd.exe | right-click on cmd.exe - select run as admin; paste into cmd/DOS screen (to paste, right-click at top of DOS screen, select Edit, select Paste):

PHP Code:
systeminfo > %temp%0.txt start notepad %temp%0.txt
Notepad will open with sysinfo. Look at processor/ BIOS version lines.

Try disabling IPv6. It causes problems on some systems. Link is below.
