Missing Keystrokes
Missing keystrokes are my reason for this thread.

I have read this is a rgular problem people are having and so may people are askng forhelp bu no one has any ansers that work. Everythin I read I prtty much tried & noting. As ou can tell byreading this it hasnt worked.

Im running Vista 32 bit basic, IE8 beta (recentlytried IE8 fromEI7, in hopes of it fixing itself.) Brnd new computer only a couple months old if that. Nothng ever cmes up in any scans, all are clean.

Norton I read could be the cause. True?

Anyhelp or suggestions would be great.

Thanks

What do you mean by "missing keystrokes"?
Do you type letters that don't appear on the screen? In what application? What about Notepad?
Does the computer appear to be running something in the background that leads you to believe some type of Norton software would be causing the problem?
Is every letter and number key affected?
Is this a laptop or a desktop?
Has the computer or keyboard been moved, dropped, spilled on, or otherwise physically damaged, impacted, altered, etc.?

Sounds like your internet browser is hijacked. Some viruses or trojans can have keyloggers which cause the keyboard data input to miss keystrokes because they log all your keystrokes and maybe even stealing your passwords. I would try scanning it with a different antivirus like Spybot Search and Destroy just in case.

What web browser? Do you have any toolbars, extensions, or other features installed? What security software is running (anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, etc.)?

I went back and read the original post and see that you're running Internet Explorer. Upgrading to a beta version of an application is never a good idea especially when you're already experiencing problems. I'd recommend removing Internet Explorer 8.

I'm not sure if this works with IE 8 or not, but you can try. Run Internet Explorer in Safe Mode.

have you done the basics?
always start there
first go backto ie7
clean cookies and temporary internet files turn off autofill auto complete etc.
are you sure the page is fully loaded before typing
Have you seen if the problem persisted rinning ie in safe mode.

We can only help you by going through the trouble shooting process.

At this point no one can advise for you to go into a specific file etc and replace it because we do not recieve any feed back.
