Attachment won't open in Windows Mail
I have a message with an attachment for a word document In Windows Mail. When I try to open I get an error message that says "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations Control Panel" How do I fix this?

Hi janalafata,

See if the fix here works. (Applies to Word 2003 and 2007 versions.)

Unable to open .DOC attachments from Windows Mail:

Or click on Programs in the Control Panel.
Click Deafault Programs.
Now click "Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program
Scroll down to "Doc"
It should have a word processor associated with it. You do not say what you have installed, but it would under most circumstances be "Microsoft Office Word" Or Open Office. But if it has nothing relevant showing, double click the "doc" and browse and select your word processor.

Problem solved
tech-win,

Problem solved. DocFix worked perfectly. Even the little Word icon in the attachment looks bigger now too. Thank you
