Smile How to enable digital cable in windows vista - Media Center?
My question is how do i enable digital cable in windows vista - Media Center?

I have 2 Tv Tuners:
1) 1250 Hauppauge &
2) TV Wonder™ Digital Cable Tuner (with a cable card slot built in).

Both cards work fine for the standard channels 1-99. i want to be able to see all the channels i pay for using the cable card in the TV Wonder™ Digital Cable Tuner.

The problem is that windows media center is shipped with analog cable enabled and digital cable disabled. So when i go to view any channel greater than 100 windows alerts me that "You cannot activate digital cable. you computer is not digital cable enabled and cannot be used with a cableCARD"

i'm in search of how to switch this (maybe a bios issue?) so that i "Enable Digital Cable"

advice?

thank you

Just reading thru the FAQ's it looks like you didn't set something up. I would read all the instructions for your TV Wonder.

You may want to read this FAQ as well. You may have to have your cable company activate the Tuner for you as well.

the card is active and working, if it is hooked up to a monitor it displays properly.

however, when plugged into the computer, media center displays the "your computer is not digital cable enabled"

Not sure if this applies ... But I noticed on some of the CTO "customized" HP computers ..
You have to order Windows Digital Media Center .. for the Digital cards.
I wonder if it needs different OS ???

TV Pack 2008 offers digital cable support on Vista Media Center.

It was only releases to as OEM to dell/hp/etc.. but it has leaked on the internet.

did you simply buy the ATI tuner?

It is designed, right now anyways, to be bundled only by PC manufacturers because of the TV pack thing with media center and also because your BIOS has to support cable card --

the setting to enable in your BIOS will not be there unless it was a PC designed for cable card usage - or if you can find a bios update for your current system that has cable card support

Once that hard of a Google Search. All I did was input your Error message into Google and that is what came up.

i did some research - no solutions and doesn't seem like there will be.

the cable card communicates with the pc and needs a key to operate - that key is provided by the cablelabs company -- and the keys can be revoked

Well, there is a fix but not legal. So there won't be any discussion about it here. But you may want to read this forum.
