Problems Installing XP on Vista Laptop
Hi, i dont know if this has already been asked but, I'm having a serious problem with my Dell Inspirion 1300. Its severely slow and i want to install XP on it but once i load the XP CD, a blue screen appears saying that Windows has shut down to prevent damage. Its happened to me more than once.

The blue screen says:

windows has been shut down to prevent further damage to your computer.
If this is first time resstart . if not follow steps:

Check if you have adequate disk space - which i do, i have 20gb free.

disable driver, try changing vid adapters

check for bios updates, disable bios mem options.

then theres some code at the bottom under "technical information".

I'd be greatful if anybody knew a solution to my problem. Thanks

The usual error is xp cant find hard drive and you have to take it off ahci in the bios.
also be sure all your usb port are empty before starting.
Also that same errorr can happen with failing ram
boot into f12 and do the diagnostics for your ram
alot of dells in the vista era have bad ram
