wireless keeps
I recently brought a laptop with Vista Home Premium (32bit) pre-installed.
Dual core T3200 2.00GHz
2Gb RAM
Realtek RTL81817B Wireless Network Adaptor
Netgear RangeMax Router

I've been having a connection issue where my wireless device loses sight of ANY wireless networks at completely random times, Including both my neighbours routers. The only way I can connect again is by restarting my computer. This is happening quite a few times a day.

Another problem is i used to be able to go through "Wireless Network Connections" and "Disable" driver (then Enable), but now when i do it, it says "not responding".

I have tried;
Updating driver through Device Manager
Disabling (TCP/iPv6)
Hard wiring to router (this resulted in brilliant connection with no drop outs)
Changed my router (which needed replacing anyway)

I have another 2 computers using the same router which both run off XP with no problems.

I'm guessing its a vista problem because of the "not responding" in the Network Connections file. Any help would be massively appreciated

I cannot find anything about that wireless adapter. If it is integrated get the latest driver from your laptop manufacturer's web site. Otherwise get the latest driver from Realtek.

Just a thought; either disable Vista Wireless connection and just run the software that came with your card/router.... or remove the 3rd party software and go with just the Vista connection. This was often an issue with XP machines.

Good idea, with the exception that in Vista the WLAN AutoConfig must be running to have wireless. FWIW on my Vista I use the integrated Broadband wireless adapter with only the WLAN AutoConfig and an Airlink101 USB wireless adapter with both the Airlink101 utility and WLAN AutoConfig.

No good unfortunately. and now it wont hold a connection for longer that 5 mins before wireless network adapter fails.

I have tried the above which didnt help so reverted back to original settings.
