computer went blank
I was working on my laptop, an HP Compaq which has Windows Vista (basic). It suddenly froze and I forced it to shut down, (by pressing the power button). Then I switched it back on, the screen stays just black and nothing happens. Only the DVD writer buttons opens the rack thing but it doesn't proceed to boot.

Update: oh yes, I forgot to mention that it beeps like 5 loud ones and then stops that.

PLEASE HELP.

5 beeps usually indicate a hardware problem/processor failure. At worst something could be wrong with your processor/motherboard. When you startup press F8 and see if you can start in safe mode.
