Exclamation Vista laptop stuck in reboot loop after backing up to external HD
On Saturday my cat knocked over a half-full glass of water onto my Sony VAIO laptop (running Windows Vista) while I was out of the house. When I got home Saturday night, the laptop would not turn on. I unplugged everything, took out the battery and the hard drive and left it upside-down on a towel for twenty-four hours. On Sunday night I tried it again and it worked perfectly, the only small problem was that the time on the clock was a little off. We reset the clock and it worked fine all night and all day yesterday. Last night I went out and bought myself a Seagate FreeAgent external hard drive, installed it and backed up my entire drive, just in case. That was the last thing I did before I shut the computer down for the night. This morning I turned it on and it got to the screen that says "VAIO" and then shut itself down. Then it immediately booted back up and did the same thing, over and over again. I shut it down completely and tried it again with the same result. It doesn't even boot up far enough for me to select safe mode or last known good or anything like that. How can I free myself from this death loop?
