Smile Canon driver on Vista - Access is denied
Hi Everyone,
I have bought a Canon digital camera (PowerShot SX10 IS). When I attach it to my laptop and turn it on, I get 'Installing device driver software' message. I then get the found new hardware window with 'Locate and install driver software (recommended)' option. After selecting this, it fails a minute or 2 later with 'Access is denied'.
I have been onto Canon who say the driver is already in Vista so its a microsoft problem.
Microsoft say as my laptop was pre-loaded with Vista then its down to Acer.
Before I have the joy of phoning Acer, I was hoping someone might know how I can sort this.
Thanks in advance, fitzsy
P.S. I have run several different Reg cleaners, no change. Also, I have a Canon printer (don't know if that's relevant!)

Sorry, forgot to mention, after my conversation with Canon I successfully attached the Camera to my daughter's laptop (Medion - also running Vista). As soon as I turned the camera on it loaded the driver with no messages coming up that needed a response. Thanks, fitzsy

Me again, I've located the camera drivers on my daughters laptop and have checked it against my laptop. All 6 files are on my laptop in exactly the same locations as my daughters laptop. Hope that helps! fitzsy
