Exclamation Solved: x64 or x86? PLEASE HELP
Hey,

I am about to install windows 7 onto my HP 530, but i need to know whether my laptop will be able to take x64, or do i have to get x86?

at the moment i have windows XP.

Looks like it depends on which processor is installed.
The core 2 duo is 64 bit.
The celeron m 530 series is supposedly 32 bit.

In order to install 64-bit, the processor, BIOS, and all device drivers must support 64-bit. You cannot install 32-bit drivers in a 64-bit O/S. Go to HP's website and they will tell you.

try to stay with 32 bit if you can as it is beta
you will be able to tell enough about 7 either way
you have to have mucho ram to run 64 or you wont be happy

Thanks alot guys ( and girls).

i'll check out what processor it's on when i get it back off my dad's friend.

but i'll probably install Win7 32 bit, or get Vista Ultimate.

Visit this link of Microsoft to find which version either 32 bit or 64 bit Windows 7 you have to install.
