BSOD, RAID 0 Error + others
Hello all

Having multiple issues on a Sony Vaio laptop model PCG-8X1L
Specs
Win Vista 32 bit Home Premium
2 x 1GB RAM (PC 5300)
2 X 120GB Fujitsu HD, in RAID 0 array
Intel 82801 GHM SATA Raid comtroller
Intel Core2 Centrino T7200 @ 2.00 GHz
Sony Blu-ray player
Bluetooth

There are 2 user accounts set up. Jeff and Star.
Now on to the problems.
1. I can log into user account Star. Once the desktop loads, there is a task bar error message stating:
"A drive in a RAID 0 volume is failing. Try to back up immediately" I've launched the Intel Matrix Storage Console. Listed under RAID hard drives, both the Fujitsu drives are listed with a red "X" next to the name. They are listed as port 0 and port 2. There are no other hard drives on the laptop.

2. In device manager/portable devices-yellow exclamation for Microsoft WPD FileSystem Volume Driver.

3. When I try to log on to account Jeff, one of 2 things happen. Either I get a BSOD, with a reboot and a log file dump, OR I get to the Welcome screen and it just hangs.

The owner of this laptop is worried about losing all the family pics and the 2000 songs he downloaded. Legally through iTunes! All the songs and pics are under user account Jeff, which I can't log onto. Those files are not shared with other users of the computer.

I know this is a host of problems, and I'm not sure if any/all of them are related.
Thanks in advance for any help.
My 1st concern is getting the pics/music safely copied.

Unfortunately Raid 0 is the most risky array...

If one Drive Fails or becomes corrupted all data is lost....

The only thing I can recommend is to boot from a vista disk and run chkdsk/f from command prompt

That may fix the stripe...

Last night Vista was installing 11 updates. During the process, it caused a fatal error. CHKDSK started on its own. I was able to get a little info during the process.

Correcting error in index
$I30 for file 3167
Delete index entry -mpsdrv.index $I30 2106
-bthmigplugin.dll $I30 3681
_IMJPZP.dic in $I30 3961

I don't think chkdsk fixed those errors. as chkdsk ran again and found the same problems.

Not sure if this helps or not.

Burned the ISO disk and ran the program. No errors found. Tried to log in as Jeff and got a fatal error during start up.
Ejected the disk, restarted at did F8. Got the recovery console. Tried to do a restore to the earliest date. Recovery went fine, but still a crash.
Was able to get the Vaio recovery center to load. Currently copying data to an external HD. Hopefullt that solves the 1st problem-trying to get his pics and music copied.
After this is complete, I'm still stuck at logging Jeff on and fixing the raid error.
Thanks for the help so far.

Hopefully the data extracted contains the music and pictures....

After that your only option will be to reinstall an OS.. (Operating System)
