Question Vista on an Acer 5050 laptop
I have an Acer 5050 laptop that crashed and keeps restarting. I tried the repair prompt and it tells me there is no operating system on the pc. I tried to system restore and same thing ( no restore points) I cant boot in safe mode or anything. I ran the repair again and when prompted to load drivers I was able to select different drives on the pc (C, D, X) I can look in the D and X drive but not the C, I restarted and selected boot with command prompt and was able to see the directories in the other drives but the C drive comes up as unreadable and corrupt volume. Does this mean the hard drive is done for or is there a way to fix it?
thanks

It could be because your hard disk crashed
or maybe
It's not properly connected.

Well if it crashed you can only replace it as far as I know.
Before you buy anything though you can open the case and check whether the power and data cables are secured in place.

***Open the case ONLY if you know what you are doing. If not ask someone who does and have in mind that by opening the laptop ANY guarantee or insurance by the manufacturer or the seller is broken and not valid.

Don't blame me for anything you do wrong

(but it's a pretty easy task)

You can try launching the Acer Factory Restore from the hidden recovery partition by pressing Alt + F10 when the ACER logo appears; this should launch the Recovery and redo Windows, the drivers, and Acer software for you . And you may also have the F12 option enabled to press that key to bring up a temporary boot menu as well.

Thanks for the help guys. I got the password for the bios( was a friends pc) and changed the boot settings so I could reinstall vista. The corrupt volume does not appear in my computer anymore but I can see it in device manager. most of the drivers are working except for the wireless network. I'll have to search around for them but everything else seems ok. Once again thanks for the help
