Helping installing Windows xp on a Windows Vista System
I've read over the tuturiol. It doesn't apply in this matter, at least I don't think so.

I have a p6130y Hp desktop that was preinstailled with Windows Vista Home on it. It has one parition with the OS on it. And another Parititon with a recovery on it.

System Stats:

Motherboard: M2n7b-la
8gb Ram
750 Sata Seagate Barracuda Hard Drive

Since i have a Sata harddrive, I keep getting a Pci.sys error. I've found and put on a disk the 7 files that you need to install a sata driver during instaillion. When i press f6 and it ask to specify additional scsi adapters, cd rom drivers, or special disk controllers for us with windows. It lets me choice the xp/server 2003 one. I hit enter and it says that Windows already has a driver that you can use.

I press S to use the driver on my floppy drive. It choices the one i want. Now when it goes back to the selection screen. I have three choices. S to specify a driver, Enter, and press f3 to exit. I hit enter, but the choice for enter says "If you do not have any device support disks from a mass storage device manfacturere, or do not want to specify additional mass storage devices for use with windows, press enter" If i keep hitting the S to specify additional devices i go in a loop.

So the only way to move on is to press enter, even having selected a driver for the Sata harddrive. After it goes to start windows, i get a pci.sys error.

I hope you have all the information to help me. Thank you.

Welcome to TSG!

The pci.sys error probably has nothing to do with the SATA drivers.
Does your XP CD include SP2 or SP3? IF it's SP1 or SP0, you'll get the pci.sys error because of the PCI Express Bus. That wasn't supported by XP until SP2.

I had Windows xp pro sp3 black edition. I finally got it to work. I didn't do anything, it just finally toke to the setup screen.

I ran into a whole bunch of other problems though. I can't find compatabile windows 32 bit drivers for the chipset base. I have a p6130y Hp with geforce 9100 chipset. I can't find a driver that will work with the network adapter at all. Any suggestions? Other then putting another Nic card in lol.

The XP Pro Black Edition is a pirated copy, and the rules won't allow us to provide assistance.
Other Illegal Activities - As you might expect, we don't want anything illegal going on here. Users cannot post hacks, cracks, pirated software, or anything of the like. Furthermore, we do not allow instructions on how to complete illegal activities, such as pirating. Please don't ask for advice on using illegal software, as it will be removed.
