I have two desktop computers (for the sake of this, they are named "desktop 1 and desktop 2) running windows XP SP2, and they are connected to a network to share files and one printer (which is connected to desktop 2) through a linksys router, which works fine. I just recently (yesterday) got a laptop running Windows Vista (currently downloading and installing) SP2. When I wanted to create a new network (I just named it HOME), I created it with desktop 1, and set it to "this computer connects to the internet through another computer or residential gateway (which would be my router, correct?)." I then created a net setup disk with my flash drive and inserted it into desktop 2, where I did the net setup and now they are both hooked up and working fine. Then I tried it on my laptop, and I tried ALL of the settings, restarting each time, but after every setup, it says "an error occurred in setup (or something like that) - you can manually configure your network, or retry with different settings. Idk what to do, any help is much appreciated. Thanks
I have tried it with an ethernet cable and without, I can connect to the linksys and use the internet just fine, wirelessly and with an ethernet connection, I just want to create a network so I can copy file from my desktops to my laptop and vice-versa
