Unhappy Solved: Blue Screen of Death series of problems. please help
I was installing a new version of mcafee. when the was a problem in my powerdown. its a device which turns all pephirals off, like speakers printer, moniter etc off.

the powered down failed, so everything just turned off. i plugged all the sockets into the mains directly as the powerdown had given my computer a big problem.

as i turned my computer on vista would not start so i used startup repair on vista disc.

i've succesfully manges to start vista, and a driver installation box for mcafee comes on the corner. then a bluescreen quickly appears then the computer restarts and does the whole sequence again. basically it keeps looping.

after like two or three loops the mcafee driver says succesfully installed.

i was guessing the problem may be the mcafee driver so i disconnected my internet dongle so it wouldnt connect to internet and download any drivers. but the message never came up anyway as it had installed, and neither did the BSOD. I became excited and thought the computer was ixed.

But.. when i plug in dongle it does BSOD again.

i dont know what the problem is but after many quick attempts i've managed to get lots of minidumps transfered onto usb.

please can someone help me. i know you have the knowledge. please please help me.

Thank you very much for the fast reply. I can confirm there are not any errors at all in the device manager.

I've looked at 3 of them now (oldest 2 and most recent) and they are all identical >>

Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\mfendisk.sys, Win32 error 2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for mfendisk.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for mfendisk.sys
Probably caused by : mfendisk.sys ( mfendisk+2b0d)
There are no google hits for "mfendisk.sys" which is very unusual -- but looking at other drivers loaded -- it appears to belong to McAfee.

I would uninstall McAfee and test.

I would also uninstall Daemon Tools until this is resolved -- as it uses memory space in ways that can cause conflicts

There is also a networking driver in the trap frame -- and USB compatibility issue may exist here.

Most of these have been resolved in SP2 and you have NO service pack update >> Windows Vista Kernel Version 6000 MP (2 procs) Free x86 compatible

After Uninstalling McAfee the first thing I would do is install the latest service pack.

If it has not been offered through Windows Updates -- there may be some compatibilty issues with your particular computer model.

If that is the case, go to the Computer Vendor's site for your model and install any updates available there first.

thank you ever so much Rollin' Rog. you've helped me sort out my problem. it was hard to just uninstall mcafee from control panel as it wasn't installed fully. so i used mcafee chat support to get a uninstall file. It uninstalled.

Although the system files were corrupted, so i used the vista disk to reapir.

Then checked for the mfendisk.sys and it wasn't there, it was probably removed by the mcafee unistaller. Thank you ever so much for pointing the problem to me.

May God bless you.

Sounds great, and ofcourse you are most welcome for the support.

If and when you are confident that all is well you may mark the thread "Solved" using the tab at the upper left

I do recommend you get the appropriate service pack updates --
