Solved: Vista 64-bit install failing. Ok, so I have run into multiple problems throughout my most recent reformat. Before I formatted my main drive I was running into some problems, and I decided I should reformat to 64-bit Vista since I am running with a Quad Core and want to get more then 4 gb of RAM. I have the install disc, atleast I am pretty sure it is 64-bit since it is labeled Windows Vista Ultimate x64. I can get through the install on the DVD, I go in English etc and continue on entering my key and it gets to the drives. I get all the way to the install and it seems to go fine, though "Expanding files" seems slow. One thing I noticed here is all of the other processes listed go very fast. "Copying Windows files" and "Installing features" both take a split second, which may be part of the problem. I do not have it plugged into an ethernet, so perhaps it needs an internet connection, but anyways, installing updates doesn't really do much either. It then says that it needs to restart the computer and will continue the installation. This is where the problem starts:
If I start it off the disk again I simply get the installer again, so I let it go.
If I let it go, I first started to get the error "Bootmgr missing" so I reinstalled.
After another install I can get to the Windows loading screen, but after maybe 3 or 4 of the bar moving across the center of the screen I get a blue screen and it shuts down. I don't have enough time to read the blue screen, and I don't know how to stop it from instantly shutting down.
Here are my specs:
Motherboard: SUS M2N32 SL Deluxe
Chipset: nVidia nForce 590 SLI
RAM: 4 gb Corsair RAM
CPU: AMD Phenom 9850 4x 2.4 gHz
Video: nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX 768 mb
Anything else needed please ask, and thanks for any help. |
