Assistance? Vista + KOTOR II = Epic Fail??
Hello. I actually have a few questions to ask, despite my title, so I hope it'd be okay if I decided to ask them all in one post. Forgive me if I'm disregarding the rules in any form.

A few months ago, I purchased a game(Knights of the Old Republic II, or KOTOR II) and since it was made in 2004 and ideal for Windows XP Operating Systems, it wouldn't run on my computer because I have Windows Vista Home Premium-- I didn't know this when I purchased it. After a month of slaving on the computer, looking for a solution, I found an interesting suggestion; someone suggested I download Windows Virtual PC 2007 and "downgrade" to Windows XP, and try running my game then. Unfortunately, I know little about Virtual PC 2007. Microsoft hasn't offered much assistance, let alone a straight answer.

Also, I'd like to ask if I'll need a disk to run on XP, using Virtual PC 2007, because I have a Toshiba Laptop, and I'll also need a disk to play my game.

One last thing-- should I just wait for Windows 7? I wanted to know because if I wouldn't have to fix any compatibility problems, make any adjustments to the game's running or whatever, and have it run on my computer, then I'd be thrilled to wait.

Thank you so much in advance. I really don't have the patience for the people in the forums at Microsoft Answers. They're rather rude, and pretentious to some extent. I don't blame them, though.

If you need to know anything about my computer's running, don't hesitate to ask.

Yes you need a valid xp license to run XP in any virtual software environment. You only need the XP disk to install XP in Virtual PC, once that is done, you don't need the XP disc in the drive.

Thank you so much. Can I just ask you one last thing? I'm so sorry.

Will I be able to switch in between each OS? Meaning I'll be able to run my game with Windows XP, then go on the Internet, edit photos, do my own thing, etc. using Windows Vista? Or will I be stuck with one or the other?

Yes you can, remember you need as much memory as possible when running VPC, it uses memory to run an entire OS inside of Vista, If there is not enough memory both Vista and XP performance will suffer greatly when running VPC.

You will need 3gb or more of installed memory.
