Hi, I have a laptop running Vista 32 bit and it has been running fine apart from a few problems with Skyplayer but nothing major, anyway the other day, I can't remember whether it had been in sleep mode or I just turned it on but it connected to BT Home hub wirelessly as normal opened a browser and it just comes up "internet explorer cannot display the page" I am running IE8.
Anyway long story short it continues to either be local only or local and internet and does not open internet in browser also after a period of time skype failes came up saying connectivity problems and google desktop says unable to start correctly as all a bit strange as skype and google desktop would normal just sit waiting to refresh as and when you go online, this seemed peculiar for them both to fail.
Also on vista laptop i have a vodafone usb dongle which previously had been working fine on this vista laptop and when i put it in it sees network and connects then comes up as local only. Again open browser no internet, then I put it in XP laptio loads vodafone connects software and connects fine and opens browser and accesses internet ok. Don't understand why vista laptop has stopped seeing internet in usb and or wireless.
I have a PC and another laptop which are successfully connected to hub wirelessly both XP and IE 8.
So I have trolled through various forums to find fixes and I numerously reset network adapter, i reset winsock, disables DHCP, I even downloaded USB drivers for Hub and connected Vista laptop to hub and still sees network with internet but again does not access internet. I was convinced that my laptop is well and truly buggered, everyday I wake up find another option or fix and try it and still no joy.
On a further note as I was convinced it was my laptop, anyway my husband cames back from trip and put on his vista laptop only to have same connectivity issues. So now I think it maybe the BT home hub but doesn't explain why my vista laptop won't connect with dongle.
I have checked hub and all pc's are connected can see ip addresses, i have checked up to date with latest firmware.
I don't understand what could have changed one day it was working fine as always and then this week no internet.
