Solved: Cache keeps growing never stops help!
Hello i have a dell inspiron 530 with 500hdd and 8gb i have just installed vista 64 but i have a huge problem the cache memory keeps growing and never stops even though i have no programs running any one knows how i can fix this ?

Yes, it is a new feature of NT6 called "SuperFetch" personally I don't like it, it works by caching programs that you might use into memory, if the memory is needed then it is released, but it will cache it again, its alright for a business machine but when you want smooth performance it is a hinderance.

To disable SuperFetch hold down the Windows Key on the keyboard and press R, now type "Services.msc" without the ". Find "SuperFetch" in the list and right click it, now go to Properties and change it from Automatic to Disabled, and Stop the service itself. Now restart and you should have your memory back. Thanks.

sounds good ill try that, how much cache is normally stored? because i usually have like 5 gb there .

SuperFetch will function differently on each computer depending on what programs you use, how often, and how much RAM you have so I couldn't say.

sorry for the late reply my stupid pcu went out, anyways yeah it worked thanks a million man my pc doesn't hoard memory any more thanks a million man
