I have a Dell Inspiron Notebook with Windows Vista. The screensaver never comes on and can't even be previewed. The PC no longer goes into sleep mode either. It just keeps running.
I have tried every possible solution I can find including uninstalling PowerDVD, running windows update and disabling my firewall. Still no success. I also reduced the start-up programs to 6 (WLAN card, pointing device, audio, line detect, op system and virus software)
The problem started after a windows update. Coincidentally, the Synaptic Pointing Device icon started appearing on the taskbar after this update.
Can/Should I just disable the point device from startup? If not, what do I do?
