Any experience share or help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How much RAM do you have?

Maybe the installation wasn't all that successful. Uninstall Norton and run Symantec's Norton Removal Tool. After rebooting try the installation again.

Now, remove Norton 360 with the Tool.

Then, reinstall Norton 360.

I tried earlier . I removed earlier norton virus scan program with norton successfully . Then after reboot it asked for installtion of Norton 360. Installation was succesful . But when at the time of reboot laptop just hangs. Recovery tool can not correct start up problems . When rollback to remove installed software everything becomes fine including reboot but Norton 360 is lost because of roll back. please help.

Hi divyeshp1,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

It sounds like the system restore may have caused problems on your system. Also, make sure that you do not have any other third-party, real-time security software installed, as it can cause conflicts with Norton 360.

The easiest way to resolve this problem is to properly remove and reinstall Norton 360. Please carefully follow the instructions below.

1. Click on the following link to download the Norton Removal Tool:

Norton Removal Tool and Instructions

2. After you run the tool, please restart your computer. Then log in to Windows again and run the removal tool again. Restart your computer after it is finished running the second time as well.

3. Click on the link below and then choose the "Download" button under Norton 360 to download the latest installer.

Download the latest Norton 360 installer

4. When the installation is complete, launch Norton and manually run LiveUpdate to check for updates. If any updates are installed, restart your computer.

5. Launch Norton 360, mouse-over the "PC Security" bubble and perform a "Comprehensive Scan" to check for infections.

Thank you,
Mike

It is irresponsible to suggest that without explaining why you think the features found in Norton 360 but not AVG Free or Avast free are not needed. I do not use a security suite, preferring separate firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware, but the people who pay for one probably have their reasons.

Sorry I agree with Terry here. We have an obligation to explain why we prefer another Antivirus program. While it is true that Norton 360 is a huge resource hog, most newer pc's have enough processing speed and memory where the user isn't that aware but suggesting the use of Avira or Avg when there are other services the user has in Norton 360 is really not helpful. Frankly I don't think Avg or Avira are any more use as an Antivirus than Norton is since I find them useless on my heavily infected systems along with Norton, MacAfee, Pc Cillan and Avg and Avira doing absolutley nothing about the infections.

glad we agree that norton is a resource hog
the op states that he has 2 gigs of ram which is JUST enough to run vista nicely
and people that buy newer pc's i would imagine like to use the processing speed and memory for the things they enjoy ...photoshop.....gaming.....etc
NOT a resource hog like norton
now i just mentioned a few other alternatives that I use..............

replay, I stated why your advice was irresponsible, and Rich stated it in more detail. You've stated your opinion more than once. Consider this discussion closed. Do not post again in this thread unless you have something to contribute to divyeshp1's issue.
