Black Screen at StartUp!! HELP
I was attempting to install updates on my laptop (that has vista) I was installing vista service pack 1...It wasn't installed because I am having other issues with my computer, but anyways.
The windows update told me to restart my computer and it began loading the files for the service pack and such. It restarted and there was a black screen with numbers loading files like the startup system. Then it froze on one of the files for about 2 hours. I came home and it was still frozen so I manually shut off the laptop. Now I try to turn it back on and all I get is a black screen, no start up menus or logo or anything!!!!
SOMEONE HELP PLEASE!

OK I have tried some hard reboots and even gotten the windows resuming to show up and the compaq screen. I got into the windows restore menu and chose repair windows menu and it showed a loading bar then now black again....sigh this is very frustrating

I can't get past a black screen with numbers loading
It finally got to loading stuff again but is stuck on numbers. and I searched for a cd but do not have one. I could do a recovery if it would just let me get to the start menu.
