If you have not already dealt with this, look in c:\program files\common files and see if you can see a file called alg.exe (you may have to show hidden files and folders - can't remember). Check the detailed properties of the file - it should say it is from a company called sornsoft (search for them and you will see they sell malware programs!) and that its description is CPAX20 and that it used to be called CPAX2.EXE.
If so you have the same as me - an annoying piece of malware, pretty amateur really, masquerading as the true windows file alg.exe. The real file alg.exe resides in the system folders (not program files) and its detailed properties will show it is from microsoft.
To delete the file, do not search for it (you may find the real file and delete it by mistake), first go to Task Manager, check the running processes and end the one called alg.exe that has a description of CPAX20. You can then delete the file from c:/program files/common files (it is possible you may have to be an administrator and/or have user account control turned off).
Once the file is gone, you can (although it is not strictly necessary) get rid of the instruction to run the file, either by using hijackthis or by using regedit (search for help on these if you are not 100% comfortable with those methods).
Anyway, I had it - it has gone and not come back, together with the irritating error messages.
