Angry Vista can't find graphics card
When I switch on my computer which has Vista o/s it cannot find the graphics card and I get the message "no VGA input", so I then put the card in my old computer which is on XP and it works. I had put the card back in the newer computer and initially it worked as long as I kept the computer in sleep mode. However, I accidentally shut it down and now it can't find the card again, and no matter how many times I have taken it out etc, it isn't working. So I am guessing it's just not able to boot up properly. (I am typing this on an ancient old laptop which is really slow!)

The old computer is really slow and I think it has a virus. My question is, can I take the hard drive out of the new computer and put it in the old one? I don't need anything on the old hard drive so will just get rid of that. Will that mean it will get rid of the virus on the old computer and will it mean I will then be running the old computer on Vista, with all my work as it was on the new computer? I don't have any disks for the newer computer (not sure if it came with them or not).

I urgently need to get to my work. Please help!

I now have the HP screen but it's just hanging. Left for 20 mins after trying ESC and F11.

It sounds to me like there is something wrong with your motherboard. So i would try maybe getting a new one. I had a similar problem where i had an older graphics card in a newer computer. And one night when i was working on my computer i forgot to turn off the power supply and somehow one of power cables touched metal and sparked. after that the pci slot did not work anymore and my boot up screen doesn't work anymore. This was a long time ago so it's been fixed since then. So i would have to say for a final opinion try a different slot on the motherboard and if that doesn't work you may need a new one
