Solved: System Freeze up
My system started to freeze up suddenly. I do not have an error message to give, as the screen was covered in skewed multi-color (but mainly white) horizontal lines. This was happening before any recent updates. I did windows security updates yesterday and it is still freezing.

System: Toshiba Notebook
Intel TM2 Duo CPU P7350 2GHz processor
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 - 512mb dedicated video
4 GB Ram
Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit

We had this happen to another Toshiba, but we can't remember what was done to rectify it.

Hi first try updating your video driver, does it make any difference if you alter the angle of the screen.if a update does not work you may need to look at the cable connecting your screen to the motherboard, you may also need to look at a possible issue with your video card.If you have a warranty get in touch with toshiba,do not open the machine if you have the warranty

Thank you for your response.

As far as I can tell, everything is updated. I certainly can't play with wires as this is a NOTEBOOK, and yes, it is under warranty. As I mentionned before, we've had this issue before, but I can't remember what we did to fix it. I think it was a driver update, by my system is saying all is up to date.

Right, sorry, I'm really tired and forgot about that one. I will go check.

As for the RAM, no, I have not modified anything internally.

Okay, I uninstalled and deleted the old driver, re-installed the new one. Time will tell.

Thanks!

I don't know if #1 issue is resolved, but I closed the laptop cover this morning, came back to it tonight, and all the keyboard lights were on, but the laptop wouldn't come out of hibernate mode. Very odd. I just changed the sleep options for the "plugged in" setting to "never sleep". So I'll see if that works for that one.
