I do not have an error message to give, as the screen was covered in skewed multi-color (but mainly white) horizontal lines. This was happening before any recent updates. I did windows security updates yesterday and it is still freezing.
System: Toshiba Notebook
Intel TM2 Duo CPU P7350 2GHz processor
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 - 512mb dedicated video
4 GB Ram
Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit
We had this happen to another Toshiba, but we can't remember what was done to rectify it. | | Distinguished Member with 2,770 posts. | | Join Date: Jan 2009 Experience: Intermediate | | Hi first try updating your video driver, does it make any difference if you alter the angle of the screen.if a update does not work you may need to look at the cable connecting your screen to the motherboard, you may also need to look at a possible issue with your video card.If you have a warranty get in touch with toshiba,do not open the machine if you have the warranty | | Junior Member with 6 posts. | | Join Date: Oct 2009 Experience: Intermediate-Advanced | | Thank you for your response.
As far as I can tell, everything is updated. I certainly can't play with wires as this is a NOTEBOOK, and yes, it is under warranty. As I mentionned before, we've had this issue before, but I can't remember what we did to fix it. I think it was a driver update, by my system is saying all is up to date. | | Distinguished Member with 2,770 posts. | | Join Date: Jan 2009 Experience: Intermediate | | Hi that means little as far as drivers are concerned go to the manufacturer support web site for you make and model computer or the video card makers and download the latest drivers from there unistall the old one then install the new.if you have no joy with it then it is time to contact toshiba | | Distinguished Member with 20,637 posts. | | Join Date: May 2006 Location: Eastern Pa Experience: Advanced | | By any chance did you add to or change ram in this notebook? | | Junior Member with 6 posts. | | Join Date: Oct 2009 Experience: Intermediate-Advanced | | Quote:

I will go check.
As for the RAM, no, I have not modified anything internally. | | Junior Member with 6 posts. | | Join Date: Oct 2009 Experience: Intermediate-Advanced | | Okay, I uninstalled and deleted the old driver, re-installed the new one. Time will tell.
Thanks! | | Distinguished Member with 2,770 posts. | | Join Date: Jan 2009 Experience: Intermediate | | Hi leave the thread open for a few days and see how it goes | | Junior Member with 6 posts. | | Join Date: Oct 2009 Experience: Intermediate-Advanced | | I don't know if #1 issue is resolved, but I closed the laptop cover this morning, came back to it tonight, and all the keyboard lights were on, but the laptop wouldn't come out of hibernate mode. Very odd. I just changed the sleep options for the "plugged in" setting to "never sleep". So I'll see if that works for that one. | | Junior Member with 6 posts. | | Join Date: Oct 2009 Experience: Intermediate-Advanced |
