He should get it downloaded and burned....always a nice tool to have,and looks like it may be needed.
Now we need the command to enter after he boots the disk to automate the recovery....if the partition is actually there..Has anyone had the op take a look yet?

The posters option is missing from the boot menu and the application in windows is also gone...However if the partition itself still is intack the factory image can be jump started through command prompt with the download of the disk you gave the link to....{I had to do it my dell once after I had put xp on in place of vista}
After it is complete it will write the custom mbr to show repair my computer
on f8 boot with the factory image showing on sub menu....we still have to problem of finding the command for the gateway though.

Ive tried the recovery disk now and it found problems and mended them but theyre all back again and the disk doesnt have the "vanilla" copy of windows for windows complete PC Restore so I can go back to factory restore. It says E:\sources\install.wim The file does not exsist.

Also I still cant get windows recovery enviroment to work turn on or install removable storage manager I cant find it and I dont know where to download it from.

Thanks again everyone for helping me.

I go to the install now but when it gets to the Partition hard disk section I have no idea what to do Ive tried to find a tutorial online to gide me through but I cant find one. Ive read some things that say delete the recovery section? Then some say just add it to your main area Im guessing thats my C: drive? Sorry Im posting so much I just want to make sure Im passing over everything I know.
Thanks

Dont delete any partitions..the recovery partition still may come in useful later down the road,
Also dont delete C as D will now become C{windows will call it C but some Utilities may refer to it as D ..and also the vista dvd may refer to it as D when you do a start up repair}
You want to format C ...NTSF ..long or quick...either way.
You will have different partitions showing...C will be the big one.
The main thing here is you want to format C..this will wipe the old install to start fresh with the new install

Also the reason I reinstalled vista was because of this "usb device not recognised" but I have just realised the problem occurred when windows updated. Now Ive just finished updating my "new" windows and I added them in order of realease and the same thing has happened I did a system restore back to before I had the last set of updates but it hasnt helped. My usb device is my external hard drive it has worked fine for 24 hours before this update was added any ideas?
