Unhappy Solved: Mouse and keyboard constantly freezee: Event viewer says i8042prt error
Hey all. I will get right into it.

My mouse and keyboard constantly freezee and I have no idea why. I get no BSOD as once they freeze I have to manually restart the computer. It tends to occur when I deal with certain programs or do certain things. I noticed with the event viewer that every time I put my computer on the i8042prt error is the only one that comes up (event ID 7026). Some forums are saying to disable it but I am worried to deal with the registry. I have updated to the latest drivers and I have run malware/spyware tests. I am willing to post a hijackthis log if requested. Maybe with that you might be able to work out if there are any programs that cause the mouse/keyboard to freeze up?

Any help/tips/ways in which you think you would be able to fix the problem would be much appreciated.

Oh and I have windows vista home premium (64bit) and service pack 2 installed. My main worry with dealing with the registry is that in the forums they do not always mention what OS they have to it might be different with Vista.

EDIT: Two examples where the computer crashes/freezes:
-www.speedtest.com I click on test speed and it measures my download speed but then when it goes to upload speed it freezes (where is the download value stored in the computer... maybe that is affecting it somehow?
-www.wikipedia.org I went to Wikipedia and edited a random article and when I clicked on preview button my computer froze (this happend twice!)

Nobody at all?

Since my first post I want to say that the problem has not gone away. I.e. I am not going anywhere near speedtest and or wikipedia but that doesn't mean there aren't other random crashes that happen throughout (I just haven't been able to develop a pattern here)...

Yeah I actually had that and recently uninstalled it! But the problems are still sadly occurring. :/

Thank you for the info though! I am guessing it might have been happening then since I had other anti-virus/spyware software already installed.
