I see, so with one of those little gadgets I could pull the drive and connect it to a USB port and treat it like an external HDD?

YES .. It'll connect to any HDD
I got it in case I had to work on my Laptop.
Best insurance I ever paid for .. My Laptop has worked flawlessly.

I also use it instead of changing HDDs in my externals .. or installing internally

Hehe, I know exactly what you mean.

Ok, so I just need to get the backlup software, data destruction software and an adapter and I should be more or less set. Now All I have to do is get the damned thing set up the way I want it again.
