Need help with a crashed Laptop
HI I am new to this site and need your help.

I have an HP Laptop that is a little over a year old. It had some corrupt files and then it totally died. I tried going in different ways to recover it but none of it worked it is totally a goner.

I need information on how to restore it like strip the hard drive and reprogram it.Can anyone lend me a hand on this?

Thanks

It will boot up but it will not allow me to do anything. It will also let me go to a safe mode page that is about it, it will not let me do anything else..

I hope this helps.

Thanks

There's a key stoke at bootup that should perform a recovery back to brand new.
I think its F11 .. Your bootup screen should say what it is.

At the bottom of the Blue HP boot screen .. It should give you some F (key) operations.
What's the model number of the HP ??

Here's the HP Help for recovery on your Laptop.

Sounds like you're in the Windows Recovery to a previous restore point.
What did you do to get there ???
I'm guessing that it will be safe to try a restore back to 9-19-09

F11 at bootup will send you to the HP recovery that will return the computer back to the way it was originally made.
You will loose any data and the setup if you do this.
Is that what you want to to ??

Here's the F11 instructions.

Okay guess what it worked I am so excited.I have to tell you the story. I took it in to a shop where I just moved because my Laptop was freezing off and on and I thought it was a little bug because it was still working okay. Well when they gave it back to me it was totally frozen I was real upset with the guy because it was not that way when I took it in. Needless to say I walked out with a none working Laptop. Thanks to you it was a simple issue.

I do however need more help. It does freeze and its performance is slow. It has corrupt files and I do not know how to get rid of them.

Any ideas how to fix any of these other issues?

Again thanks

NO .. The only procedure I use to fix a computer is a fresh install of Windows...
Which I think was your first question.

Do you have all your personal data and settings backed up ??

"Freezing" might be a heat problem .. Have you cleaned out the dust bunnies ??

Yes Dust Bunnies are often treated and taken care of.lol Thanks for asking but they have had their walking papers. I am backing up some pictures at the moment though. Are you going to be around latter? It might take me awhile to back up a few things I am so glad I did not totally loose my pic's and documents.

So you have to clear the whole system and start over eh?

Walking papers

A fresh rebuild is what I usually do.
I've seen people spend days trying to fix a computer and get the bugs out ...
And who knows if they got all the bugs or bunnies.

Takes me about a day for a fresh install, update it, load my programs and get it configured the way I like it.
Then I "Image" it .. So the next time it only takes me about 15 minutes.

Nothing tunes up a computer or fixes what may ail it ... better than a fresh install.

Yes I want to do that and have no clue how. Can you tell me what I am suppose to do and I will tell you the disc's I have with the system.

I have system Recovery DVD For Distribution only with a Hp or Compaque 32 bit Notebook. Disc one and two. It is Windows Vista home premium.

Please fill me in on the steps.

This is the deal the computer works fine only when I download word 200 it wont work and other programs stopped working too. I think it is from corrupt files well that was what the crazy guy said who I took it too. Gee I am not sure about him he is one dust bunny I would like to give the boot to..lol
