Unhappy Internet is connected, but Browsers won't load pages.
Please help, I've gone through every website possible relating to this in some way or another and can't find the problem or solution. I have Windows Vista x64. With AVG Virus Protection 8.5. I use Firefox as a primary browser, but also have IE8. The internet is connected and works fine, I'm using it right now on my laptop which works perfect. The problem is my desktop downstairs. The internet is getting through, as I can download and update Windows still for example. However I cannot update my Virus Protection (AVG), nor can I browse any websites. Once I open up Firefox or IE, automatically I get "Page Load Error". I am extremely frustrated as I cannot understand why this is happening and what caused it. I uninstalled my AVG to see maybe that may have been the problem but it's not, and reinstalled it and now it's even more outdated (Had 8.5, couldn't update to 9.0), and now I have 7.5. Also worthy to note, whenever I try to update it, it says it cannot connect to it server I believe. And it's not AVG as I have it on my laptop and updated it with no problems on the same network. Please help me! I appreciate it so much!!

If neither browser is properly working, you might have a spyware infection. I would suggest downloading both www.MalwareBytes.org and ComboFix. You will probably have to do so from the working laptop, then bring them to your other computer on a flash drive or CD. Uninstall AVG for now, then Run the ComboFix utility. When it finishes, install, update and do a full scan with MalwareBytes.

If all looks good and browsing works afterwards, you can either go back to AVG 9 or give Microsoft's new Security Essentials a try which seems to be working pretty well.

Good luck.
