Vista and XP Network
In house networking is different with Vista than XP.
In Windows Explorer you could map the network drive using an address like \\computer1\d. This would access a particular drive. Vista will not access a drive. You can only access a folder.

In XP the folder address would be \\computer1\d\docs. In Vista the same address is \\computer1\docs. You never enter the drive letter when accessing a Vista computer.

Other considerations for Vista are the share settings.
c:\Users\Public folder is set for sharing by default if sharing is turned on for that folder. (Right click on the folder and turn sharing on. You may want to add "Everyone" in the share privileges and set it as a "co-owner".

Open the network and sharing properties in the control panel, where it gives you the details about the network, first drop down box under the big "this user - network name - internet" you'll see a customize link. Click it, and then tell it to change the network type to private. This allows your computer to be fully accessed by anyone on the network. Then you must go to the user accounts panel and disable user account control. What happens is Vista looks for that XP user in the user list, if it doesn't find it then it can't find the account control authorization for them.

The last consideration is to use a networking program like Network Magic which is made by Cisco. It does XP, Vista and Windows 7.
