Recurrent Windows Error Recovery Messages Before Startup Hello. I am running Windows Vista 32 bit on an ASUS G1S laptop with 2.4 GHz and 3.0 GB of RAM. I had to reinstall windows today after contracting a virus. Throughout the day I have been installing windows updates to bring Vista up to date.
Since installing the first batch of 68 or so updates, on startup I continually get a black "Windows Error Recovery" screen, which prompts me to either "Launch Startup Repair (recommended)" or "Start Windows Normally" (photo attached). Selecting the former just returns me to the same screen. When I select "Start Windows Normally," however, Vista boots up just fine.
As it stands now, this is more of an inconvenience than anything, but I am concerned that it could become something worse. I reformatted about a month ago and followed the exact same steps (the only difference being that this time I have AVG Free antivirus installed instead of Symantec Endpoint Protection) without having this problem. Is there any way to fix this without reinstalling windows again?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
