Window and Font size
Vista Home Basic.
Window size: The only settings I can find are in 'Properties' for Shortcuts.
All other windows and web pages open about half-size and must be Maximize.
Links and all 'new-windows' open half size.
I would like all windows to open 'Maximized'.

Font size: Webpage "A" displays #12 fonts. The next page the fonts are #8.
I have checked the boxes; 'Ignore font style' and 'Ignore font size'.
Surely I am missing something.

Thanks, Deanohop

hello dean & welcome

what browser are you using ?

when you open a window and it is small.instead of Maximizing it .put you curser on the edge of the window. when it becomes a little arrow.left click your mouse and drag it (make the window bigger) left or right. up or down)

see attachment LOL

as for the fonts we need to know witch browser you are using.
but for a quick fix you can hold down the ctrl key (on keyboard) and use the scroll on your mouse @ the same time.

good luck

Vista Home Basic
I am using IE8.
The click+drag does not work. (it worked for XP)

The 'control+scroll' will help a lot.

At random, some web pages open full size but less than half the time.
The email I got about this response was in #6 or smaller font. All other text was normal-size (#10).

On some pages, the header will be #24 while the body text is #8~6.
Quite a pain...
Thank you for your help.

hello

try this. open ie8 > tools>internet options. advanced tab. click the reset button. (see attachments)

have you run any virus scans ??

have you tried another browser ?? (i use chrome) just in case you want to try it. http://www.google.com/chrome

if this dont work you may want to uninstall ie8 & reinstall. (may be corrupt) heres some info on doing that. make sure you follow vista instructions. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700

good luck

Window and Font size
Ok, I tried Google Chrome and it was worse.
I am back to IE7 and nothing has improved.

One webpage will be ok but the next is not.
In my Hotmail, the fonts are ok in the left pane.
But, as I open a message, the font in the header and body are #6~8.
Start/Programs, favorites etc, are #6~8.
Desktop icons are ok but the text below them is #6~8.

I think I will simply deal with it until I can afford Windows 7,,, or a Mac.

Thanks for your efforts and consider this topic closed.
