Can't log on - Spinning circle at welcome screen.
Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows Vista OS. I have a problem where on boot-up it hangs at the welcome screen and the circle spins and it never gets apst this.

I managed to go in to safe mode and do a system restore which got me logged in. My McAfee then flags that I am not fully protected. When I fix this by enabling the anti-virus software and I reboot the PC the same thing happens. It hangs at the welcome screen with the spinning circle.

Is the laptop possibly infected in some way. I was thinking of uninstalling Mcafee temporarily and running ccleaner, malware bytes, spybot search and destroy. I was then going to re-install McAfee again and see how things were. Has anyone came across this before?

Thanks in advance.

Hi your problem could well be mcafee remove it but use the removal tool to remove all traces as it puts stuff everywhere, info on uninstall http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507
and removal tool http://majorgeeks.com/McAfee_Consume...ool_d5420.html
only use ccleaner to clean up do not use the regcleaner or you could be back with more issues
