Solved: Computer won't boot after image replacement
I wasn't sure if this should be under "Other Software" or "Vista". After 3 days trying to restore my daughter's computer, I have finally been able to use Macrium Reflect software, to replace an image of her OS drive I made when I first set it up for her. Now I can't get it to boot. It opens the Acer splash screen then goes black and there is white type across the top saying, "Verifying DMI Pool Data.........Update Success" then a blinking curser at the end and nothing more.

It's an Acer M3100 computer that came with Vista. It recently refused to boot after her 18 yr old son used it and I couldn't get it up and running again. It didn't seem to have any restore points. Not sure why as it was setting them when I gave it to her last spring. I can't think of any more info that might be usefull to you.

I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks
Peg

Hello again, Peg.

Can you access the advanced options menu, #2 at http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/19...t-startup.html

Does the startup menu, option #1 appear?

Please provide a product information page for the software you used.

Malware will do this. So will humans.

If you can't reach option 1 or option 2, download the .ISO
http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/window...disc-download/

Create a bootable disk.

Why? You might need to access the command prompt to run chkdsk /r . You might need to run a system repair.

Yes, hi again to you too. After thinking I had succeeded earlier, it wouldn't boot again. Agh! Since asking the question posted here, I finally managed to learn how to restore it to it's original state. Acer didn't make it easy, but Alt F10 at the original splash screen was the secret.

Thanks for trying to help me. I was getting pretty frantic.

Peg:
You are welcome.

If you are satisfied w/ the status of the computer, please mark the thread solved.

I suggest that you increase the security on the daughter's lappy. Hints at

As we increase security, we decrease freedom.
