Internet Problems GaLORE!
Ok, so heres whats going on.

I have a basic multimedia system... just a few oldy comp parts popped together to run on a 19" flatscreen and dual view onto my flatscreen TV... I use this computer for media and internet browsing.. nothing much.

One fine day, long long ago, in a house far far away from you guys, (I just woke up and this was going on.. I didn't do anything to start it) I had no internet.

The error is this.
~Connection Status: unknown
The dependency service or group failed to start~

I have tried countless internet found remidies and none worked... I have also done something anyone will figure would fix the problem...

REINSTALLED VISTA!!!! It went like this, pop in Ubuntu Linux disk... Erase drive losing all my valuable information, install Linux. Internet works fine for days.... Clear HDD again, install vista. Internet worked for like a day or something and then the problem happened again.

I think it's some sort of virus or worm that is corrupting things in my system. Is it possible to create a virus of some sort that will stay on the harddrive even after it gets erased and reformatted??? Linux uses a different format (not NTFS) so the HDD was completely erased and reformatted...

Anyone got any ideas?? If you need more information let me know.

If its a virus try using dban to wipe the harddrive completely before installing Vista again. The fastest mode will do fine

Also try to remember if this problem happens after you install some specific software

Will do man, thanks alot for the help. I'll try wiping again with that and installing... This time i'm booting up everything in series... i'm gonna keep the internet disconnected, keep only the main boot drive connected and in a process hook every other drive up and then by process install all my drivers and software (which will all be the most up to date ones..) and hopefully nothing will happen but if it does, I will find out when its happening.

Thanks.
