Computer chops parts of words while I type
Hi. When I'm on the Internet and I want to type something, my computer will take pieces of words and completely ignore the fact I type them. (This took a lot of revision, that last sentence!)

If want to type:

I get:
Stabbthebea is aesome and eally likes hiscomputer, ad this i a test.

Hello & welcome to TG Forum.

Which browser do you use? Which version?
Open the browsers. Across the top, look for "help"
Left click "help".
Left click "about . ."
If you use IE 7 or IE 8, "help" might not be present.
In that case, left click "tools". Left click "menu bar".

FireFox?
Internet Explorer?
Google Chrome?
Opera?
Other?

When did the problem begin? Date please. Can you correlate the onset to an update or new program installed?

New keyboard?

Does it happen at every site, or some sites?

Which firewall have you? Which anti virus? Which anti spyware?

Which Vista flavor & # of bits, & service pack?
RIGHT click "computer".
Left click "properties".

What kind of internet connection have you? DSL, cable, satellite, dial up?

Boot to safe mode w/ networking.
Test.
NOTE: while running sm / n, your firewall and anti virus will not funtion completely. Visit ONLY http://forums.techguy.org

I use the following method:
restart the computer. Tap the F8 key once a second, until the startup menu appears.
Then, use the up / down arrow keys to select / highlight "safe mode with networking"
Press "enter"

On some computers, instead of going to the startup menu, you end up at a different menu. See option 2 at http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/19...t-startup.html

Red face Oops
It turns out that the problem was that there was a smiley add-on from the internet i didn't even download...and it was slowing everything down. Sorry, I felt bad looking this over, and then finding out what the problem was. Again, sorry for making you type so much.
But thx. I wouldn't have thought of looking in the Help section of my Toolbar in the first place. Thank you

No need to apologize.

Thanks for letting us know the solution.

Another troubleshooting step, perhaps the 1st one to mention [ hind sight being 20 / 20 ] would be to disable add ons in the browser.

Please mark your thread solved when you are satisfied with the status.

Unsubscribed.
